Jaco Pastorius 'Invitation' is his third album recorded with his Word of Mouth big band and released in December 1983 by Warner Bros.

During the first week of September 1982, Jaco Pastorius, the Word of Mouth Big Band and a couple of special guests such as Toots Thielemans took part in the "Aurex Jazz Festival" held in three different Japanese venues : Budokan, Tokyo (September 1st), Osaka Festival Hall (September 4th) and Yokohama Stadium (September 5th).
